AI-collaboration is not the same as AI-assistance

Imagine that you are running out of time on a deadline and you need to write a relatively complex review; furthermore, imagine that you can ask a Genie and seek guidance. What would you do?

When you write academic documents such as reviews and reports, you engage in a cognitively demanding task. You weave your own experience and intuition and switch between reading widely, referencing facts and data, and integrating diverse pieces of information. Common workflows of academic writing include identifying tens of research papers and reading them, annotating them on reference managers, then transferring the notes and writing them on word processing applications. The process, for us humans, is both time consuming and tedious. This is an area where Artificial Intelligence, particularly the generative pre-trained transformer models can make our lives easier and productivity better.

Therefore it is no wonder that several AI-based applications are out there facilitating academic writing. In general, the way I see it, there are two categories of such applications:
