Concept of Second Brain

Tiago Forte is a productivity expert who has conceptualised the idea of building a second brain. The second brain, according to Tiago, is based on four principles: CODE, PARA, Progressive Summarisation, and Intermediate Packets

The CODE principle is an acronym of Collect-Organise-Distill-Express. You start by collecting all information as you come across. This can be text materials, highlights of websites and webpages, PDF document annotations, annotations from ePubs and ebooks, and even physical objects or book portions that you want to annotate. Then, you need to write notes to express ideas in your own words and write about them and store them. The organisation itself is based on PARA (projects, areas, resources, and archives).

PARA is about organising the information you collect based on Projects you undertake or are undertaking at the point of collection, Areas that are important and connect to the Projects, Resources are all the resources or digital or analog artefacts that you want to keep, and Archives refer to the store of all resources and artefacts that you have already completed and would like to store.
