Sitting here staring accusingly across the room at my growingly full day bag, I’m reminded again that it is a good objective for us all to strive for, both bag-wise and on a larger scale, in life— knowing what your essentials are and taking only them along on the trip into the day… or the unknown.

I guess the challenge is to figure out what is excess and what is not. The bare minimum will then work itself out. Just-in-case or just-in-time: what is your preference to look at life?

A minimalistic approach to life is a deliberate approach with lots of information and introspection needed to make sense of life. Behind minimalism lies a careful sense of balance and awareness of Self. The Buddha used to say that human beings should watch them over at least one out of three watches of night. That watching process leads one to the packing or unpacking process if you will, how much baggage to carry throughout life.
