Necessary but not sufficient.

What you write is a worldwide problem, not just America’s. Dollar stores are springing everywhere eclipsing more sustainable options of living and buying locally and seasonally available stuff. The reasons are economical, as many people look at price tags not necessarily think deep into the consequences of what they end up doing by encouraging dollar stores. Unless there is a concerted effort to educate the citizendium about these consequences, the problem is not going away.

That said, I commend you for writing this much needed article. I hope it reaches a wide audience and makes a difference.
