Superb analysis of MOOCs and comparison with Masterclass. I did not know of Masterclass till I read this article. I’d say this is a great concept, where you start learning from the masters, yet the learning package and modules are carefully crafted by experts in instructional design. Where I am concerned is that, for all the money spent, there are tacit knowledge component that the masters can provide, no doubt, but do they have the freedom to share the core of their expertise? How much of that balance is being worked out? Also, which are the areas they work best? Can you really learn performance sport such as tennis from Serena Williams? What needs to be worked out?
