May I add what I have gathered over the years:

  1. Write with nouns and verbs;
  2. If you can, avoid adjectives. Use them where they are unavoidable.
  3. Use adverbs sparingly, it at all.
  4. Keep the tone of the writing positive.
  5. “Keep clearing the throat” to minimum.
