Thanks for writing a very well-written detailed and important piece.

Think it's worthwhile to mention that in the absence of a vaccine, the concept of herd immunity is useless, if not outright dangerous, for any infectious disease. And that, herd immunity is not an "immunity" in the biological sense, it is an "epidemiological immunity" hence "herd immunity".
