That may be true. However, I find editing rust files (or typst files) and even julia quite intuitive with Zed editor, and practically, it makes not much of a difference between Zed and VS Code for these use cases. My vote for Zed is based on that, it is Rust based, which tells me that it is optimised for memory.
There are other nice ones as well, other than Zed, such as Lapce (https://lapce.dev) and my favourite one, lite-xl (really good).
