Very interesting statement given we do not yet know what it will actually look like or what the specifications are going to be. Nevertheless, a very important take away from M.G. Siegler’s essay for me is that, photography is more than the wizardry of the gear. Of course, there is a merit for using the top of the line digital SLRs, but it is also, at the end of the day, the person who takes the photo. Raghu Rai, the celebrated Indian photographer is famously have asked one of his students when the student asked him whether to invest in a new spiffy camera was whether he has already shot his best photo in his existing gear. It is the same story. The rules of good composition, learning to play with light conditions, and quest for that exact aperture and speed will not lessen no matter how sophisticated my tools be.

X a replacement for Y? For whom?
