Very refreshing to see this strong statement (albeit in the context of conversation within a novel). I can kind of see where you are coming from.

Over time, I have developed a disdain for Indian intellectuals (in Bengali as you know, they call themselves “বুদ্ধিজীবি” as if those of us who earn living in other ways are less of intellects than these hallowed bastards). In particular, three classes of these people are intolerable if you ask me: economists with their holier than thou attitudes and sociologists/historians (again, the holy cow sorts).

I do not know how this novel, when will be finished and published will be received by the litereary circles in India, but you can see the kernel of a path breaking literary work in the wings.
