Well, thinking about it a bit more, an animated regression line has value as a teaching aid. For instance, if we were able to stop and progress the line (like what’s happening in the diagram you presented but at a _really_ slow pace), then this could serve as a running commentary on say a linear model where it helps to tell the story about the change in y-variable as x-variable increases by one unit.
