Will you listen Tony?

My wish from you would be that Medium taps more into the deeper, storytelling, experiential contents and 'stories' of humans that elevate us: stories that go beyond 'how to's, and perhaps algorithms that will start demoting "I made XXX$s on ..." type of stories but lift up stories that come from the heart, that uplift and find meaning in lives. People write, people read, and then people write.

Now is a time to explore why people flock to Medium to read stories. Somewhere, you need to fix Medium's monetization problem. I remember when Medium was first launched in 2012, it wasn't open to everyone, but it was free to read, and spending an hour reading Medium was an enriching experience in itself.

Medium flourished then, Medium will flourish in future.

But somehow in the process, the value creation then is not the same value creation now.

Perhaps all of Medium can borrow from the philosophy of 'better humans' content authoring guide where you have written about presenting transformational content authoring. As we are heading into increasingly challenging times, perhaps Medium under your stewardship can rise up to the challenge where storytelling and accessing stories easily becomes the point of Medium, too much 'techno stuff' and 'how to' drops off and takes a back seat.

Make Medium Human Again, please!
