They have sweetly pitched the price.

Just about. But that’s not the reason why.

Almost like the price of a cup of coffee a month. I am still not sure what extra we will get as “founding members” (ooh, that sounds a mouthful), but at the point I subscribed, I did not think of that equation either. For five bucks a month, you can get a hosted ghost blog subscription, an app, or for sixty bucks a year something different, but Medium?

Shouldn’t I read for free anyway?

I suppose somewhere Medium quietly disturbed me. Very subtle disturbance – you sense, if you’ve been reading and interacting here that at the end of the day, there is this spot on the Internet where you can park & relax for a days’ worth of good reading, less cacophony, less celebrity bragging, less showing off, but just a place to read stories, anecdotes, thoughts – something different, a cafe by the roadside.

No, more like a country pub less noise. ;-)

And heck, I can participate too.

Shall I take it for granted? All of it?

Shall I?

Shall I not?

At which point, I knew sort of, what would be the right thing for me to do.
