Yet the elephant in the room is the ethical and human costs of EVs that often are disregarded in this sort of arguments. EVs have their own issues that one cannot be blind about. You cannot be blind about ecologically harmful ways of extracting lithium, and the ethical issues around cobalt and conflict minerals. Besides EVs carry a risk of explosions and fire risks among other things. I am not convinced that after all, in the larger scheme of things, EVs are "eco-friendly" options. They may be "better" than ICE engine driven vehicles dependent on fossil fuels, but perhaps we can think of other options such as cleaner fueled public transport to travel to places, instead of electric vehicles and trains, etc.
